The NSCN/GPRN, UT has directed hotels and lodges within its jurisdiction to check the identity cards of girls entering their establishments and not to allow the entry of underage girls or those in school uniform. This directive comes in response to reports that a number of underage/young girls were caught in hotel rooms with “non-locals and older men for some cash.”
It also stated that students were caught “red-handed in uniform in hotel rooms.”
“While we, as a Naga society, strongly advocate the dignity and honor of women in our society, it is very disheartening to see young girls selling their pride this way,” the statement said.
“In case of non-compliance, the owners of the hotels and lodges will be penalized as per Azha of NSCN/GPRN,” it further warned.
Stating that it has come to know of some places in Dimapur town running “sex rackets and pimping young girls for a few thousand rupees, which is unacceptable to Naga society,” it warned that defaulters “shall be strictly dealt with and heavily penalized.”
