Mokokchung, 14 February (MTNews): The United Sangtam Region (USR) of the NSCN/GPRN expressed deep concern over the prevailing social menace of substance abuse and alcohol consumption within their jurisdiction in a press statement. It also highlighted the negligence by government officials in attending their office duties.
To combat these issues, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of USR, Likhumse Sangtam, has declared an immediate and comprehensive ban on the sale of illicit drugs or substances within the jurisdiction of USR, GPRN. “No shops other than pharmacies will be allowed to open on Sunday,” it added.
USR also noted that irregular government officials within USR “have given many inconveniences to the public.”
It was also mentioned that officials were not found attending their official duties “most of the time” and added that “such irresponsible manner of holding official posts in government departments without least concern for the people they are expected to serve and for which they are paid for, USR will not allow this nuisance to continue.”
“This statement should be considered as a warning and anyone not obeying shall be penalized accordingly,” it cautioned.
