The NSCN/GPRN (YA) has expressed concern over what it described as “incidents of threats and violence” by the Government of India and its armed forces in Naga areas in recent days.
In a statement issued on April 10 through its Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the NSCN/GPRN (YA) alleged that Indian security forces had carried out “continued aerial terrorism” targeting Naga civilians along what it termed imposed borders, referring specifically to an April 6 drone strike at Khammoi village in the Naga Self-Administered Zone in Myanmar.
“The 6th April, 2026 drone attack at Khammoi village in Naga Self-Administered Zone (Myanmar) once again exposed the ill-mentality of a nation who proudly claims to be the world’s largest democracy,” the statement said. It further alleged that such attacks are “part of a systematic campaign to terrorize Nagas,” adding that civilians were “no longer safe even inside their own houses.”
“These attacks on unarmed civilians not only threatens the core principles of the United Nations, but also devastated Naga communities, deepening an already dire humanitarian crisis of Nagas in Myanmar,” it stated.
The group also denounced the recent notification issued by India’s Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal extending another five years ban on the NSCN/GPRN.
It stated that, using the lens of ‘terrorism’ and proscribing the NSCN/GPRN as a terrorist organization, “India obscures the fact that her atrocities against the Nagas, including thousands of innocent civilians killed over the decades, has far exceeded NSCN/GPRN’s so-called Unlawful activities.”
“India have consistently weaponized the AFSPA, UAPA and other draconian laws to criminalize the Naga resistance movement and terrorized the Naga public whereby committing serious human rights violation,” the statement claimed.

“Ironically this same country is a signatory at the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and recently re-elected to the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) for 2026-2028 term,” it added.
The statement further alleged that while India presents itself as a promoter of international human rights at the UNHRC, “violence, abuses and racial discrimination is a daily event in India’s occupied North-east and Kashmir.”
It went on to say that India is “on a brink of becoming a failed state due to her totalitarian and abusive nature which deems her unfit to become a member of the UNHRC.”
It also appealed to the international community to act in line with UN principles and act with urgency to ensure that “India’s crimes are investigated and held to account,” and called on UNHRC member states to review India’s human rights record.
“We further strongly call on all the Member States to the UNHRC to review India’s Human Rights record and ensure that the long term integrity and credibility of the UNHRC itself are not sacrificed to political influence and expediency of a rogue member like India,” it stated.
The NSCN/GPRN (YA) stated that, “even in the absence of significant global support, the Naga nation has steadfastly resisted the colonial forces of both India and Myanmar for decades, and we are ready to fight until the last drop of our blood for our God’s given freedom.”

It also asserted that the group remains fully committed to the “defence of our land and the protection of our people.”
Reiterating its position, the group stated that it would “never bow down to our oppressors and will never be intimidated by their military might,” adding that Nagas continue to hope that the United Nations will uphold its founding principles.
“Even in our darkest moment, Nagas held onto a glimmer of hope that one day the United Nations will live up to its founding principles and be a true beacon of freedom for oppressed people all around the world,” it concluded.
