The Yung Aung-led NSCN/GPRN has accused individuals of illegally collecting money from government departments and business establishments in Kohima and Dimapur districts in the name of the organisation and warned against dealing with unauthorised collectors.
In a press statement issued on October 13 through its Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the group identified one alleged impostor as Kakto Chopy, who it claimed had been operating under the alias HK Sema and collecting money from government departments in Kohima while falsely claiming to represent the organisation.
The group alleged that Chopy had continued the activities despite previous warnings. It issued a final warning to him to stop the alleged illegal operations, threatening capital punishment if he failed to comply. The warning was also extended to others allegedly involved in similar activities.
Meanwhile, the group announced that its Ministry of Trade and Commerce had appointed Toshi Naga, Joint Secretary, and Avolie Angami, Deputy Secretary, as finance in-charges for Kohima and Dimapur districts, with immediate effect. According to the statement, they would oversee operations, coordination and financial planning in the two districts.
The group advised government departments and business establishments to verify the credentials of individuals claiming to represent it and to make financial transactions only with authorised persons. It stated that dealings with unauthorised agents would be at the concerned parties’ own risk.
