My dear comrades!
Let us praise the lord and give glory to Him because we are here today because of His love and blessings to NSCN and Naga nation.
Today is a Red Letter Day for the National Socialist Council of Nagalim(NSCN )in particular and for the Naga people in general. It was on this day that a milestone was achieved when National Socialist Council of Nagalim(NSCN) and Government of India signed the historic Framework Agreement (FA) on 3rd August, 2015. The significance of this political agreement lies in the fact that sovereign rights of the Nagas was recognised by the Government of India.Given this political importance of the FA that defines the road to final draft of Naga political solution, today we have the courage and pride to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of Framework Agreement and send the message across that we are not going to give up what has been achieved, effected on this day 3rd August, 2015 to reclaim our rightful place with sovereign right as a nation.Though government of India is going slow under various pretext, we have waited with our enduring commitment to stand by FA overcoming numerous challenges.
As the Chairman of NSCN I have the dignity to stand before you to share the credible meaning of the commemoration of the 10th anniversary of FA. I express my immense pleasure to go through your determined stand never to deviate from FA,no matter what comes. Let us work together in the same spirit that brought about this historic agreement. Let us accept our bounden duty to defend the sanctity of Framework Agreement at any cost.
This Framework Agreement symbolically acknowledged the existence of Naga nation as testified by the recognition of the unique history of the Nagas by the Government of India on July 11, 2002 during the Indo-Naga Political Talks that took place in Amsterdam.
Before we come to this point in signing the FA, India was made to understand the historical reality of the Nagas’ rights, as our Talks Team led by Chief Negotiator General Secretary Th.Muivah went through a lengthy and striking process to present the verifiable historical facts and figures of the unique history of the Nagas and the political situation that followed. No stone was left unturned to prove the existence of Nagas with sovereign status when Naga Independence Day was declared on 14th August,1947. This declaration message was cabled to UNO and India government and the representatives other nations based in New Delhi. The historical archives in UNO will prove the record straight.
This was followed by Naga Plebiscite 16 May, 1951 to establish the democratic passion of the Nagas that favour independent sovereignty and not integration with India as 99.9 percent overwhelmingly voted in that direction.
My dear comrades!
Nagas are at crossroads today. But for the NSCN, we don’t have the luxury to choose divisive politics within us. What is plunderous for history we have to abhor with the spirit of forgiveness and reconciliation.Let us learn more from history about the suicidal traps laid down by the divisive organisations, discordant agencies, polarising entities in demonic forms. They are like wild beasts with poisonous fangs. Let us choose unity and reconciliation because here lies our strategic planning to strengthen our movement as we learn to stand together to build better future and defeat the devilish agenda prepared by the government of India to destroy the God- given Naga history. They are the biggest enemy of the Nagas yesterday and today.
Nagas are at crossroads, how to bring out working system between the NSCN and WC/NNPGs to find common ground for Naga political solution. For the NSCN to work with NNPGs is a dangerous proposition. Because NNPGs propagate Naga political solution under the Constitution of India. Moreover, they are not the master of their own. Government of India agency hold the rein. For NSCN, as the torchbearer of Naga political movement will never take the risk by working with the very groups who have compromised the historical and political identity of the Nagas by failing to defend the sanctity of the uniqueness of the Naga history and political situation while talking with the government of India. This is something weird for those who professed to be working for the political identity of the Nagas.NSCN cannot imagine working with such groups who have no respect for the rights of the Naga nation.Their integrity is no longer compatible with political interests and security of the Nagas. More than anything else, NNPGs was created by the government of India to counterweight the bona fide leadership of NSCN for Naga political solution and signed the copycat of Framework Agreement under the deceitful name “Agreed Position”.
Nagas are therefore, at crossroads between words and deeds. It is unimaginable for NSCN to share platform with the groups with contrasting stand on Naga political solution. The treacherous politics of NNPGs is no longer hidden from others. Thus, Framework Agreement and Agreed Position are poles apart and we see no meeting point whatsoever.
Nagas are also at crossroads between the choice of listening to the call of India to settle for Naga political solution under the banner of the Constitution of India and voice of historical conscience, the call of God given history with our own constitution and flag with divine connection that identify the Nagas as a nation. However, Nagas shall be found wanting if we fail to defend the God given national identity as testified before the world with the signing of the Framework Agreement. We shall also be found wanting if we fail to establish meaningful connections with God under the banner of Nagalim for Christ.Let us be serious and watchful as divisive elements are roaming around to play the spoilsport to undo the Framework Agreement and thereby destroy the history of the Nagas altogether.
My dear comrades!
Let us know what it takes to kick against the rock. It hurts! So failing to defend the sanctity of the Framework Agreement is sure to hurts our history, political and cultural heritage.
Let me remind you once again what it takes to sign the historic Framework Agreement. It was a protracted and arduous negotiation marked by conflict of interests and historical facts and persistent disagreements and setbacks. We were nevertheless successful as we maneuver our way to convincingly establish the historical and political rights of the Nagas as we navigate the complex political landscapes leaving no scope for the government of India to take the issue further and sign the Framework Agreement in the spirit that reflects final solution. For this very reason the world was made to bear the witness when the signing ceremony in New Delhi was given the status of high profile political agreement and telecast live. Thus, a new chapter in the Indo-Naga history was added. We still have a long way to go before we convert the FA into something practical and not just as a political document and continue working on the competency to make sense of our responsibility for the agreement we have signed with much fanfare.
My dear comrades!
We have to be resolute and prove our spirit of resilient to defend the Framework Agreement. Because the core meaning of Framework Agreement is the recognition of our sovereign political identity as a nation. We simply cannot afford to allow our enemy destroyed Naga history. We have to be ready to give answer when the succeeding generations will question NSCN.
My dear comrades!
After having given tireless efforts spanning several decades at the cost of blood sweats and tears, we cannot afford to waver but pledge allegiance to the Framework Agreement. We have other options but to keep holding our nerves to protect the continuation of our God given history.
