Mokokchung, 19 December (MTNews): The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM), through a press statement expressed profound shock and condemnation regarding the tragic killing of Yumsen Matey, a former Congress legislator from West Khonsa, Arunachal Pradesh.
The NSCN-IM categorically denounced what they referred to as a “dastardly act,” emphasizing their abhorrence for any such violence, regardless of the reasons behind it. Matey, described as a young and dynamic leader, was acknowledged as a significant loss to the Naga community.
The statement highlighted the irony of resorting to political killings, asserting that such actions would lead the society nowhere. “Certainly, there is always a wide range of means to look into for resolving political conflicts or differences. The violent use of guns as a tool to settle political scores is going too far and against the rule of humanity,” it stated.
The NSCN-IM condemned such “mindless act of killing” in strongest term stating that “he was an able and inspiring leader with high integrity towards the Naga people and their political rights.”
NSCN-IM further expressed its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and close friends of Yumsen Matey.
“It is our prayers that God will bestow them the strength and comfort to bear the tragic loss. May the soul of Yumsen Matey rest in eternal peace!” it added.
