Mokokchung, 2 December (MTNews): Following the looting of Rs 18.85 crore on November 30 from Punjab National Bank in Ukhrul by ‘unidentified criminal elements wearing masks and carrying dangerous weapons,’ the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has expressed shock over the incident, stating that it is bound to have a negative impact on the socio-economic health of Ukhrul District.
“The dastardly crime is condemned in the strongest words. Every possible angle should be studied to identify the perpetrators, and justice should be meted out,” stated the NSCN-IM in a press statement received here.
According to Ukhrul Times, the PNB situated in Viewland-I, one of the main bazaars of Ukhrul town, was looted at around 5:40 pm on Thursday by around ten unidentified masked men carrying sophisticated weapons.
It was further reported that the unidentified armed miscreants who looted the Punjab National Bank escaped towards the Indo-Myanmar border through the Ukhrul-Jessami National Highway 202.
