The National Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM), through its MIP, expressed condolences to the family of Captain Winson, who was martyred on June 15, 2024, in a battle against KNA(B) at Angko Hills Range in Myanmar.
The NSCN-IM stated that they are ‘proud of the brave Naga Army soldiers who courageously stand on the frontline in the battle for the Naga nation.’
The statement added, “The Naga nation salutes him and pays heartfelt homage to Captain Winson, who laid down his life in the line of duty for the cause of the Naga nation”.
Additionally, the MIP clarified a report from Imphal-based Meitei local media, stating that the claim of six other Naga Army personnel dying alongside Captain Winson was ‘unfounded.’ It confirmed that “only Captain Winson was martyred, and no other Naga Army soldiers died in the battle with KNA(B)”.
