The NSCN/GPRN (IM) has categorically rejected allegations made by the Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), describing them as a “systematic fabrication, distortion, and misinformation” aimed at misleading the public and manipulating narratives surrounding the ongoing situation.

In a rebuttal statement issued through its Ministry of Information and Publicity on June 5, the NSCN/GPRN said the allegations contained in KIM’s press statement dated June 5 were being rejected “in their entirety.”

“The statement is yet another example of the systematic fabrication, distortion, and misinformation that have repeatedly been employed to mislead the public and manipulate narratives surrounding the ongoing situation,” it stated.

The NSCN/GPRN further alleged that KIM’s “repeated attempts to weaponize the suffering of the dead and injured expose a cynical agenda that has become all too familiar.”

Describing the KIM statement as “an opportunistic attempt to exploit human tragedy for political gain,” the NSCN/GPRN maintained that the accusations were unsupported by evidence.

“These baseless accusations are unsupported by credible evidence and follow a familiar pattern of manufacturing claims for propaganda purposes,” it said.

According to the NSCN/GPRN, such practices had been exposed on numerous occasions and had undermined the credibility of those involved in the “deliberate spread of falsehoods.”

“Attempting to advance a narrative through unverified allegations does nothing to promote truth, justice, or peace; it only deepens mistrust and fuels further division,” the statement added.

The NSCN/GPRN also condemned what it termed the “reckless dissemination of misinformation” and urged KIM and affiliated groups to “immediately refrain from the practice of concocting and circulating unsubstantiated allegations.”

“The repeated use of false narratives for political and strategic purposes is irresponsible and detrimental to efforts aimed at restoring normalcy and fostering genuine dialogue,” it stated.

Calling on the public, media organisations and authorities to rely on verified information, the NSCN/GPRN said, “Truth cannot be manufactured, and propaganda cannot substitute for evidence.”

It further asserted that “falsehoods, no matter how often repeated, do not become facts” and demanded an end to what it described as deceptive practices.

The statement concluded by urging all parties to act with “responsibility, integrity, and respect for the truth.”
