The Ministry of Kilo Affairs has issued a warning following reports that subsidized rice under the FCI, Tide Over, PHH, and AAY schemes—meant for public distribution to the poor and vulnerable—is being tampered with and diverted for sale in the black market.

The ministry has described the diversion of food grains meant for the needy as illegal and unlawful. In a circular issued for awareness, all concerned were cautioned that stringent action will be taken against defaulters, whether government employees or members of the public, involved in tampering or manipulation of subsidized rice in Naga-inhabited areas.
