The Konyak Union (KU) has expressed deep concern over the recent incident involving the NSCN-K (Khango) group and the proprietor of KKB Rülho, where the NSCN-K (Khango) reportedly issued a threat of capital punishment. This incident led to a non-cooperation resolution by the Angami Youth Organization (AYO) against the NSCN-K (Khango).

In a statement issued today, the KU urged both the NSCN-K (Khango) group and the AYO to seek an amicable resolution to the matter. “The situation should not be blown out of proportion, and we request that people or groups refrain from framing this as a tribal issue,” the KU stated.

The KU condemned any life-threatening actions and harassment, emphasizing that disputes should be resolved through proper and respectful means. “We do not condone such dangerous and harmful behavior,” they added.
The KU highlighted that the contractor involved is associated with roads and other infrastructural development in Mon District and other parts of Nagaland. They reaffirmed their support for contractors operating in the region, ensuring their safety and the swift resolution of any disputes through proactive involvement.

“The Konyak Union has always extended support to contractors in the region, ensuring their safety and the swift resolution of any disputes,” the KU stated. The KU reiterated its commitment to protecting individuals within their jurisdiction and fostering peace and development.

The KU said it stand firmly against any actions that hinder developmental processes in the region. “Our goal is to safeguard all people and maintain a peaceful and progressive environment,” it added.

Angami Students’ Union criticizes GPRN/NSCN (Khango) for undermining Naga cause

The Angami Students’ Union has strongly condemned the recent actions of the GPRN/NSCN (Khango) group, labeling the threats of capital punishment against the proprietor of KKB Rülho as nothing less than an “act of terrorism”. The union expressed deep concern over the barbaric conduct of the group, which they believe tarnishes the efforts of those working towards the Naga cause.

While honoring the sacrifices and commitment of national workers for the Naga cause, the union criticized the actions of the GPRN/NSCN (Khango) group, stating that such behavior undermines the nation-building efforts of revolutionary entities. The union emphasized that contributions towards a free Naga nation should never be made under forced taxation or threats of capital punishment.

“The nonsensical attitude of the so-called GPRN/NSCN Khango group, which undermines human life, does not represent the aspirations of the Nagas,” the Angami Students’ Union stated, vehemently condemning the anti-social elements disrupting the peace in their homeland.

Following the incident, the Angami Students’ Union argued that the Angami Youth Organization (AYO) explored all possible means to settle the matter for good. However, the non-compliance from the GPRN/NSCN (Khango) group led to the AYO passing a non-cooperation resolution against them.

The Angami Students’ Union expressed dismay at the statement issued by the Khango group on the 30th July, 2024.

“Throughout the Naga political struggle, Nagas with or without enrolling in the Naga revolutionary groups has equally sacrificed and contributed to the Naga cause. Yet, the Khango group intimidating the Angami Youth Organization is no less than denouncing the supreme sacrifices of our community towards the Naga political issue,” the ASU added.

It expressed regret that the Khango group is lacking efficient leaders who understand the essence of humanity and have notably forgotten the basic principles of being a freedom fighter.

The Angami Students’ Union pledged full support and cooperation to the AYO in their efforts to ensure a just and free society, free from hooliganism. They condemned the atrocious acts of the GPRN/NSCN (Khango) group and called on all right-thinking citizens to be prepared to assert their rights.

“At a time when peace and unity is prevailing upon the Nagas, this issue has brought social unrest in the Naga homeland and no story of justification can redeem the negative repercussions of this act. The Angami Students’ Union cannot allow the ‘Gun Culture’ to destabilize peace and unity among the Nagas, and we urge upon every Naga patriot to stand in solidarity,” it added.
