Mokokchung, 17 August (MTNews): The NSCN-K (Niki) has strongly condemned the representation submitted by the 8 Naga MLAs of Manipur State assembly in cohorts with the other 32 MLAs. It may be noted here that a representation was submitted to PM Modi by 40 MLAs of Manipur, including the 8 Naga MLAs who supported Chief Minister N Biren Singh’s move to urge the Union government not to consider the ‘separate administration’ demand of the Kuki community.
According to a press statement by the NSCN-K (Niki), which was issued through its Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the 8 Naga MLAs supposedly representing the Nagas of Manipur have willfully been “blinded and guided” by their “self-serving individualistic gains; shaming and tainting the very people that elected them to serve and represent.”
“The UNC has rightfully rejected and disowned the representation,” the statement further read.
It called the “reprehensible representation” a direct challenge to the very idea of Naga Nation when all Nagas, irrespective of artificially imposed borders, are yearning and working towards the attainment of a political solution with a unified Naga Homeland.
“Let it be known crystal clear to all that NSCN/GPRN will not stand silent but will take up any necessary measures to protect and defend the political aspirations of the Naga People, whenever challenged,” it added.
