Mokokchung, 13 September (MTNews): NSCN/GPRN (Niki) has announced that it has unanimously resolved to “defend and stand by Naga People’s aspirations for sovereignty.”
The group, through its MIP, stated that the resolution was adopted at the joint council meeting conducted on 12 September 2023 by the collective leadership with the political wing, central secretariat, and People’s Army of Nagaland (PAN), along with representatives from 24 Regions and Affairs.
According to MIP, the meeting, which deliberated on various issues pertaining to the “Indo-Naga political dialogue” also resolved that any political settlement arrived at should be based on the inclusivity of all stakeholders – Naga political parties, Naga civil societies, and Nagas at large. It was also resolved to “incorporate additional aspirations into the Indo-Naga political settlement after consultation with the Naga people.”
The 24 Regions and Affairs that attended the meeting included United Sangtam Region, Ao Region, Tisary Region, Chang Region, Yimkhiung Region, Kuki Region, Phom Region, Zeliangrong Region, Ammameth Region, Kachari Affairs, Gorkha Affairs, Niuland United Sub-Region, Konyak Region, Lotha Region, Khiamniungan Region, Angami Region, Rengma Region, Chakhesang Region, Shepoumaram Region, Sumi Region, UT-1, Arunachal Affairs, Garo Affairs, and Chümoukedima United Sub-Region.
