The NSCN-K (Yung Aung) faction has strongly criticized Maj Gen Totemong, labeling him a “habitual defector” with no real significance within the organization. In a statement issued by the MIP (Media and Information Publicity) wing of the Yung Aung group, the faction responded to reports suggesting that Totemong and some of his cadres had joined the Ang Mai faction, accusing the latter of being a “fitting ground for pseudo-nationalists” like Totemong.

The Yung Aung group also pointed out that Totemong had defected from the Naga National Council (NNC) in 2013 and has since distanced himself from the daily activities of the NSCN-K (Yung Aung).

In its statement, the group claimed that the Ang Mai faction is “on the hunting spree for corrupt businessmen and misguided individuals” in an attempt to undermine the Naga national struggle. It further alleged that Ang Mai had successfully recruited individuals such as Y Khomong, Mankhat, and Chin Maung, whom the group described as “failures” in their respective fields.

The Yung Aung faction also emphasized the strength and stability of its members in the Khiammiungan region, asserting that the region “is perfectly safe and strong under the current regional authority.” The region’s members, led by their Region Chairman and Region Guard Commander, have pledged to continue upholding Naga national sovereignty under the leadership of President Yung Aung.

Additionally, the faction criticized the Ang Mai group for using “every opportunity to discredit President Yung Aung with false and baseless allegations,” claiming that the group would contribute nothing positive for the Naga people but instead exploit public resources under the guise of development.

The Yung Aung group further maintained that “Presently the Angmai group and their proxies are conniving with the military junta to jeopardize the Naga areas,” it alleged and that any “misstep by these groups will not be overlooked they will be held responsible for any blunder and shame brought to the Eastern Naga people.”
