The NSCN-K (YA) and Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) have claimed responsibility for an armed attack on a patrol team of the 21 Assam Rifles near Nampong in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday morning.
In a press statement issued on September 29, the group said the operation was carried out at approximately 6.30 am.
The statement claimed that the joint team “neutralized one enemy soldier and critically injured several others” during the engagement. It further claimed that one AK assault rifle was recovered from the site.
The NSCN/GPRN (YA Group) said the action was carried out in accordance with what it described as a previously established understanding and commitment between the two groups to unite against “foreign occupational forces” and defend their sovereignty. The group expressed appreciation to its members involved in the operation, citing their “courage, unity, discipline and tactical proficiency”.
The statement further said the “Wesean People” remained united and determined in their stated struggle and described the action as part of their claimed duty to defend their land, people and freedom against what it termed “oppressive forces”.
