Mokokchung, 14 August (MTNews): The NSCN/GPRN-R (Akato) commemorated the Naga Independence Day through their respective regions and UT on 14 August, an update from the group’s MIP said.
A small program in Dimapur was held at the residence of Ato Kilonser, Michael Yeptho, who spoke briefly, followed by exhortation from the Kilo Kilonser Nokrang Lanu Aier. The Deputy Killonser Wankei Konyak of MRA (Ministry of Religious Affair) invoked God’s blessings, it said.
The Sumi Region also celebrated the day at the residence of the Chairman Samuel, with Deputy Kilonser Nikheto Chophi delivering a short speech followed by a folk song presentation by Hoshili and friends, it further said.
Pastor Hinoto offered a special prayer for the NSCN while the Chairman read out the Presidential Address. Invocation and benediction were pronounced by Khevitoli and Tolivi (Women Pastor) respectively.
Meanwhile, the Konyak Region celebrated the day at its Mon’s office HQ. After the invocation was said by Hakwang, a silent prayer was observed for the Late Chairman Temzei and other martyrs and fallen comrades, it said.
Short speeches were delivered by Kilonser Phongwang, Deputy Home Chingten, Brigadier (Eastern Command) Mongnei and Wangla Angh. Mass benediction was led by pastor Tongpang.
