September 30 (MTNews): Expressing distress over the decision of the All Nagaland Ad hoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG) batch of 2015 to intensify their agitation by resorting to indefinite hunger strike against the Government’s inaction to regularize their service, the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has appealed to the protesting teachers to “re-consider their mode of protest against the Government’s inaction while not compromising the teaching-learning process.”

NSF President, Kegwayhun Tep and Secretary (Education), Medovi Rhi stated in a press release on Friday that the decision to resort to hunger strike, which came after four continuous days of silent sit-in protest by the 1166 teachers, does not augur well for the students’ community who are already deprived of their day-to-day learning due to the absence of the teachers from their place of posting due to the ongoing agitation.

The Federation also appealed to the Government and the department concerned to “objectively look into the matter and bring about the desired solution without further delay.”

It also observed that the continued stalemate between the two parties with the authorities concerned “treading lightly on the issue” is only aggravating the situation with the students’ community at the receiving end.
As such, the NSF said that the continued stalemate between the All Nagaland Ad-hoc Teachers’ Group (ANATG) batch of 2015 and the State Government should be resolved at the earliest, in the interest of the student community.

The ANATG 2015 batch, comprising 1166 teachers, whose appointments were made in between 1995-2012 against state sanctioned posts on ad-hoc basis, began their protest on September 26 seeking regularization of their service.
