Mokokchung, April 16 (MTNews): The Nagaland based federating units of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) comprising of the Ao Students’ Conference (AKM), Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU), Lotha Students’ Union (LSU), All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK), Rengma Students’ Union (RSU) along with Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) and Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has in a joint statement reiterated their support to the resolution adopted during the NSF Emergency Presidential Council Meeting held on 11th April 2022 wherein the house resolved to recommend the state Government to maintain status quo with regard to the ‘superannuation age of medical Doctors in the state’.

“The claim by the NIDA, in a recent press conference, that some units of the NSF support their demand despite not coming publicly is completely misleading and does not have any basis whatsoever,” the joint statement said. “It is to be noted that there was no objection raised by any of the units when the resolution in question was adopted during the meeting and we are compelled to publicly reaffirm the same due to such malicious claims,” it added.

Further, the joint students’ bodies said that they were “saddened by the unfortunate development within the NSF family wherein Angami Students’ Union have declared non co-operation’ towards the incumbent NSF team. We appeal to the ASU leadership to reconsider their decision in the larger interest of the Naga people as the differences can be worked out collectively.”

ENSF clarifies stand on superannuation issue

The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has expressed discontent at the press statement made by Nagaland In-Service Doctors Association (NIDA) over the proclamation of the federation’s stand on the ongoing imbroglio between the Medical Fraternity and the State Government.

“While acknowledging the plausible demand put forth by Nagaland In-service Doctors Association over Superannuation of Age, the Federation has taken a stand that if there is a shortage of Doctors to deliver Health Care Services, the Government may consider re-appointment of retired Doctors for a period of 2 years for hospitals but not for administrative posts,” ENSF said.

ENSF also appealed to the state government to carry out appointment of doctors through the Nagaland Public Service Commission to fill the existing vacancies and to hasten functioning of the medical colleges in Kohima and Mon.
