The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has decided to keep all “democratic measures… in abeyance” for now while engaging with a newly constituted High-Powered Committee (HPC), following the State Cabinet’s decision to place the regularization of 97 Medical Officers under the Department of Health & Family Welfare on hold.
The decision was taken during the Federation’s “2nd Emergency Presidential Council Meeting (2025–2027)” held at NSF Oking on February 7, convened to deliberate on “the expiry of the ultimatum served by the Federation to the State Government on 20th December 2025 concerning the regularization of 97 Medical Officers.”
In a press statement issued on Saturday, the NSF said the House “took serious note of the Cabinet Meeting resolution dated 3rd February 2026, wherein the Cabinet decided to keep the regularization orders in abeyance and to constitute a High-Powered Committee (HPC) to examine the matter.”
The House also endorsed the Executive Council of the NSF to engage in discussions with the HPC with the objective of arriving at an amicable, fair and just resolution, the statement said.
While confirming that “the ultimatum issued by the Federation has expired,” the NSF stated that “all democratic measures have been kept in abeyance,” even as “all the units of NSF are urged to remain vigilant and be prepared for any course of action that may be initiated by the Federation should an amicable solution not be achieved.”
The Federation further said the House “placed on record its sincere appreciation for the invaluable services rendered by all health workers, particularly during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic,” acknowledging “their contribution to the well-being of the people.”
Reiterating its position, the NSF affirmed “its commitment to uphold transparency, meritocracy and constitutional procedures, while steadfastly safeguarding the interests of the student community and the public at large.”
