The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Thursday urged the Centre to expedite the long-pending Naga peace process during a meeting with Ajit Lal, Advisor (North East) to the Ministry of Home Affairs, stressing the need for an early political settlement while highlighting the prevailing security situation in the region.
During the meeting in New Delhi, the federation expressed concern over the continuing violence and unrest, particularly the Naga-Kuki conflict, and called for the immediate restoration of peace and normalcy.
The delegation also appealed to the MHA Advisor to carry forward the ongoing peace negotiations with sincerity and steer them towards a logical conclusion, while remaining sensitive to the aspirations and sentiments of the Naga people.
According to the NSF, the meeting reaffirmed the collective demand for an early political resolution to the decades-old Naga issue.
Ajit Lal, who is also a former Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau, gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured them that the issues raised would be looked into, it said.
