The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Thursday expressed appreciation to the Department of Home and the Government of Nagaland for initiating and carrying forward the ongoing police recruitment drive across the state, describing it as a significant step towards addressing long standing vacancies in the police force and generating employment opportunities for deserving Naga youth.

In a press release, the NSF stated that “a strong, professional and well equipped police force is vital for ensuring public confidence in the institutions of governance”, and said the present recruitment process would contribute to strengthening the policing system in Nagaland.

While welcoming the initiative, the NSF cautioned that the recruitment process must be conducted with the highest standards of transparency, fairness, and accountability. It stressed that meritocracy must be strictly upheld at every stage of selection to ensure that only deserving and qualified candidates are selected, without favoritism, nepotism, or undue influence.

The NSF also urged the Department of Home and all concerned agencies to ensure that the recruitment process is completed in a time bound manner.

Stating that it would continue to closely observe the recruitment drive, the NSF said this was being done in the interest of justice, fairness, and transparency. It expressed hope that the state government would set a benchmark through the recruitment drive by upholding integrity and efficiency, thereby inspiring confidence among the people of the state.
