National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers successfully underwent training under the “Yuva Aapda Mitra Scheme” as part of the first batch at the Central Training Institute (CTI), Home Guards, Civil Defence & SDRF, Toluvi, Dimapur.
State NSS Officer Ruokuovituo Zatsu informed that 120 NSS volunteers participated in the training held from July 14 to 20. The programme was organized by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.
The inaugural session on July 14 was addressed by Avinuo, CO CTI, and chaired by M. Yingnyei Konyak, Deputy Commandant. The training was conducted in collaboration with the Home Guards, Civil Defence & State Disaster Response Force.
Upon completion, all volunteers were awarded certificates.
The Yuva Aapda Mitra Scheme aims to foster voluntary spirit among youth and systematically engage them in disaster management through a structured institutional mechanism.
NDMA had earlier launched the scheme to train 2,37,326 youth volunteers from organizations such as NCC, NYKS, Bharat Scouts & Guides, and NSS across 315 districts in 28 states, along with 1,300 Trainers of Trainers (ToTs) under the upscaled Aapda Mitra Scheme (UAMS).
