The Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) has announced the cancellation of the recruitment process for 61 posts of Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) and Female Health Worker (FHW) in the Department of Health & Family Welfare, in compliance with the High Court of Guwahati, Kohima Bench order No. W.P.(C) 122/2024/979-80 dated August 20, 2025.
The posts, listed under Item No. 4 of Advertisement No. NSSB/EXAM-4/CTS-1/18 dated December 15, 2023, had already undergone a written examination on February 24, 2024. However, the Board notified that “the examination conducted for Item No. 4, ANM/FHW post, as advertised under Advertisement No. NSSB-1/CTSE 2023 dated 15th December 2023 and written examination conducted on 24th February 2024 stands cancelled with immediate effect.”
The NSSB directed the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, “to consider bringing necessary amendments in the Nagaland Nursing Services Rules, 1988 so as to provide therein the education/eligibility criteria for appointment to the post of ANM/FHW in an unambiguous manner, within a period of forty-five (45) days from the date of the said Order.”
It further stated that after completing the amendments within the stipulated 45 days, “the Department of Health and Family Welfare shall within 15 days thereof make a requisition to the NSSB, strictly complying with the provisions of Regulations 14 of the NSSB Regulations 2020.”
The Board also notified that “after receipt of the aforesaid requisition from the Department of Health & Family Welfare, NSSB shall issue necessary advertisement for the same within fifteen (15) days thereof.”
The notification clarified that fresh recruitment for the ANM/FHW posts will be conducted only after the eligibility criteria are amended by the concerned Department and other directives are fully complied with.
