The Nagaland Staff Selection Board (NSSB) has highlighted differences and ambiguities in service rules and eligibility conditions, along with the need for stronger technological infrastructure, data security and dedicated facilities for the Board.

The issues were highlighted during a review meeting between Governor Nand Kishore Yadav and NSSB officials at Lok Bhavan, Kohima, on Wednesday.

According to the presentation made at the meeting, the NSSB has conducted examinations covering 1,734 advertised posts since becoming operational, with 4,232 candidates called for interview and 1,511 candidates selected.

The Board, established on July 31, 2020, became functional on August 25, 2022. It is mandated to conduct centralised recruitment examinations for Grade III posts under Pay Matrix Levels 3 to 7 in the Nagaland government.

The meeting also reviewed the Board’s recruitment framework and measures towards standardising and digitising the recruitment process. These include online registration, One Time Registration, e-admit cards, publication of answer keys and cut-off marks, and digital access to examination and recruitment information.

Among the challenges identified were differences and ambiguities in service rules and eligibility conditions, the need for continuous technological upgrades and data security, and constraints in office space and secure facilities for handling confidential examination materials.

The Board said it requires a dedicated IT cell and dedicated premises to strengthen its functioning.

As part of its future plans, the NSSB said it intends to strengthen its recruitment data repository and move towards a completely paperless recruitment system, while further standardising and digitising workflows and enhancing cybersecurity and data protection.

The Board also proposed capacity building and training for its staff as part of its efforts to strengthen the recruitment process.
