The Naga Students’ Union Bangalore (NSUB) successfully hosted its 56th Freshers’ Meet cum Nagas’ Night at St Joseph’s University Auditorium, Bengaluru, under the theme ”Anchored in Identity, Rising with Leadership.”
The event, a cherished tradition of NSUB, welcomed new students to the Naga community while celebrating their rich cultural heritage and unity.
Over 2,500 students, dignitaries, and well-wishers attended the event, making it one of the largest gatherings of Nagas in the city this year. In her presidential address, NSUB President Nungsangmongla Ozukum highlighted the significance of the theme: ”Anchored in identity, because our roots define us. Our culture, values, faith, and heritage are not barriers to progress. They are our foundation, our compass. Rising with leadership, because the world today needs leaders who are authentic, visionary, and grounded in service.”
The event featured Chief Guest Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Government of Nagaland, Chairman IDAN, Vice President AFI, and Guest Speaker Dr Adaina, Professor at Azim Premji University, Bengaluru, who inspired the students with messages of vision and service.
A highlight of the evening was a performance by Moko Koza, one of Nagaland’s most celebrated hip-hop artists, whose music emphasized themes of identity and resilience. The celebration also included performances, artistic showcases, and the announcement of Fresher NSUB 2025 winners. Mughatolu Swu from the Sumi community and Worchuipem P from the Tangkhul community were crowned Fresher NSUB 2025, while Popularity awards went to Sungnem Sutila (Lamkang community) and Randanbemo B. Shitiri (Lotha community).
