The Naga Tribe Hohos (NTHs) and the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) on Saturday reaffirmed their shared commitment to Naga historical and political rights while declaring that the formation of new Naga political factions “shall not be accepted” by the NTHs, Naga Political Groups (NPGs), or the FNR.

The declaration was made following a joint meeting held on October 18, 2025, at Hotel Japfu, Kohima. This meeting came after sixteen prior gatherings held between January 14 and September 27, 2025, involving the NTHs, NPGs and the FNR.
Recognizing what it termed as “the weight of history and the urgency of unity,” the gathering stated with clarity and conviction that no NPG shall self-isolate from this essential, “for to do so would be to hurt the sacred journey of the Naga people.”
The meeting further affirmed that each Naga Tribe Hoho is the apex body of its respective tribe, and as such, “no other forum or body may supersede the authority of the Tribe Hoho.” This, it stated, safeguards the integrity of tribal representation and honors the ancestral mandate entrusted to each Hoho.
Addressing the issue of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO), the declaration acknowledged ENPO’s “fully legitimate aspirations for socio-economic-political flourishing,” while appealing to the ENPO family “with deep sense of needs of our emerging Naga family to support the Journey of Common Hope, and a gentle summon to walk together.”
The NTHs and FNR also passed two resolutions. The first expressed gratitude to the NPGs for their “magnanimity” and encouraged them to meet frequently and intentionally in order to converge on Naga rights and nurture a common Machang.
The second resolved to hold an Advent program on Sunday, November 30, 2025, as a gesture of spiritual humility and communal renewal. The venue and program will be worked out by the FNR in consultation with the NTHs and NPGs.
The declaration stated that it is “offered in the spirit of covenant, not mere minutes,” and serves as “a gentle summons to walk together.”
