Mokokchung, 9 November (MTNews): Nagaland University has announced that NCC Cadets selected for Pre RDC and RDC-2024 camps to be held in New Delhi will be exempted from attending the semester exams scheduled for Nov-Dec 2023.
A notification released by the University states: “NCC cadets who are shortlisted to attend the Pre-Republic Day Camp scheduled from 30-11-2023, and on selection to attend the Republic Day Camp until 31-01-2024, are exempted from appearing in the forthcoming Under-Graduate odd semester examination 2023. A special examination will be conducted by the university for the affected students/NCC cadets at a later date. In the meantime, students/NCC cadets shortlisted to attend the said camp(s) may be allowed to take provisional admission to the next semester.”
Sharing the information, Col CST Swamy, Commanding Officer, 25 Naga Battalion NCC, stated that the long-standing request by the NCC fraternity has been fulfilled by Nagaland University and thanked Prof JK Patnaik, Vice Chancellor of NU, for accepting the request and enabling the NCC cadets to excel in NCC activities.
“The Republic Day Camp at Delhi Cantt and Republic Day Parade on ‘Kartavya Path’ are the most coveted NCC training events that every NCC cadet aspires to take part in. However, due to the NU semester exams falling in Nov-Dec every year, aspirants from Nagaland have been missing out on the opportunities to attend even these camps. This exam waiver has arrived as a godsend for the bright and talented Naga students to display their skill sets at the National/International levels, as selection in the Republic Day Camps also enables them to take part in the ‘Youth Exchange Programme’ wherein selected NCC cadets participate in a country-to-country exchange of cadets belonging to NCC/equivalent Govt/youth organizations of friendly countries,” an update received here stated.
They will participate in NCC activities of the host country to create an increased awareness and appreciation of each other’s socio-economic and cultural realities. NCC has vibrant youth exchange programs with countries including the USA, UK, Argentina, Brazil, Russia, Nepal, Vietnam, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, and New Zealand.
