Kohima, 13 November (MTNews): The Nagaland University (NU), Department of Teacher Education, Kohima Campus, successfully completed another program for the continuing professional development of higher education teachers. The program focused on the highly relevant theme of “Design, Develop, and Deliver Online/Blended Learning Courses” through a Five-Day Faculty Development Program (FDP) organized by the Department of Teacher Education, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Meriema. The event was sponsored by the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration, New Delhi, on 11 November 2023.

The session was graced by the presence and support of various senior academicians from Nagaland University and across the nation. Notable speakers included Prof JK Patnaik, Vice-Chancellor (NU), Prof GT Thong, Pro-Vice-chancellor (Kohima Campus, NU), Prof Jano S Liegise, Dean (School of Humanities and Education, NU), Prof K Srinivas, the Program Director (ICT & Project Management Unit of NIEPA, New Delhi), Prof Gyanendra Nath Tiwari (Head, Dept. of Teacher Education, NU), and Prof PK Pattnaik (Nodal Officer, Dept. of Teacher Education, NU).

The Five-Day FDP provided hands-on training in new-age online/blended systems with a strong conceptual background. It emphasized the urgent need to shift from the traditional model to the Learner-Centric Model for developing, designing, and delivering online/blended systems. Concepts, tools, and applications such as MOOC, OER, Nearpod, MOODLE, Canvas, Google Classroom, Screencasting, Screenpal, OBS, etc., were explored by the teachers of Nagaland University, Kohima Campus. Participants’ understanding was assessed through formative and summative assessments.
