Nagaland University’s Department of Geography conducted a two-day national seminar on “Application of Geospatial Techniques for Environmental Sustainability in Northeast India” from March 17 to 18, 2025.
Prof BS Mipun, who retired as a Professor from NEHU and is currently serving as the Dean of RSEES & DSW at Assam Royal Global University, delivered the keynote speech on the topic ”Application of Geospatial Technology for Effective Sustainable Development Strategies.” He stressed that geospatial technology, a powerful tool, has immensely helped in efficiently monitoring the environment.
Prof DK Nayak, who also retired as a Professor from NEHU and is currently serving as a Professor at Assam Royal Global University, delivered an invited speech during the technical session on the topic ”The Road to Sustainable Development: Limits to Geospatial Technology.” He emphasized that while geospatial technology has revolutionized the path to a sustainable future, it also has certain limitations.
The Chief Patron of the seminar was Prof Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University. A total of 32 presentations were made over the course of two days. There were 90 participants from across the country who took part either in offline or online mode.
