The Department of Information Technology and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering and Technology, Nagaland University (NU), is organizing a two-day workshop on Natural Language Processing for Indigenous Languages of Northeast India: Focus on Naga Languages from March 18 to 19, 2025. The inaugural program was graced by Prof. Nigamananda Das, Senior Professor and Head of the Department of English, Nagaland University.

The resource persons for the workshop include ProfNiladri Sekhar Dash from ISI Kolkata, Dr Amalesh Gope from Tezpur University, Prof Sujata Dash from the Department of Information Technology, Nagaland University, and Dr Laishram Bijenkumar Singh, Assistant Professor in the Department of CNTLS, Nagaland University.

The workshop will consist of eight sessions, with resource persons delivering talks on topics such as Introduction to NLP & Challenges in Indigenous Languages, Computational Linguistics for Indigenous Languages, NLP Tools & Techniques for Low-Resource Languages, Overview of Naga Languages, NLP Research Trends & Funding Opportunities, and the Formation of the NLP Research Consortium. In one of the sessions, participants will receive a demonstration on proposal writing.
