Mokokchung, November 17 (MTNews): A staff of Nagaland University, Somnath Chakraborty, was the coach of the Nagaland Judo team at the 2nd North East Olympic Games held recently in Shillong, Meghalaya. He was also engaged by the Organizing Committee of the 2nd North East Olympic Games as a Technical Official for the Judo event. Venuzo Dawhuo won a Gold Medal in the +73 kgs (men) weight category for Nagaland under his guidance.
Somnath was one of the officials who conducted the selection trials for Nagaland Judo players on October 21 at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima. Thereafter, Judo Coaching Camp was held from October 22 to November 8 in Kohima, before departing for Shillong on November 9.
