Advocate Kezhokhoto Savi, President of the Nagaland Voluntary Consumers’ Organization (NVCO) and senior-most Assistant Professor at Kohima Law College, passed away, leaving a remarkable legacy as a legal expert, social activist, and writer.
Savi peacefully passed away on December 13, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. The mortal remains will be taken from his residence in Chandmari, Kohima, on December 14, 2024, at 9:00 AM to Jakhama Village for the funeral service, which will be held at 12:00 noon at Ze-Naki Ground, Jakhama.
Known for his commitment to justice and accountability, Savi was a prominent figure in Nagaland’s legal and social circles. As President of NVCO, he led various campaigns for consumer rights and against corruption, earning him widespread respect in the state.
Nagaland Rajya Sabha MP, S Phangnon Konyak, paid tribute to him, saying, “A well-known figure amongst the legal community, a crusader against corruption, and a concerned citizen who aspired for the best for Nagaland. May your kind legacy and vision continue to thrive in our daily lives.”
In addition to his legal activism, Savi contributed insightful articles to Mokokchung Times and other newspapers across Nagaland. His writings tackled critical issues such as corruption, public employment equality, and the role of law in attaining social justice. His works include “Basic Reasons Why Corruption Flourishes in Nagaland” and “Law as an Instrument of Social Egalitarianism,” which not only informed but inspired critical conversations in the public sphere.

NLSF, ANCSU condoles
The Nagaland Law Students’ Federation (NLSF) and the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) also mourned his passing.
The NLSF in a statement said, “As a law teacher, his dedication to his students and his passion for the subject were truly unparalleled. His wisdom, dedication and passion for teaching left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of learning under him.”
The NLSF expressed its profound sorrow, stating, “The loss of such an esteemed educator is deeply felt. While his absence leaves an irreplaceable void, his legacy will continue to live on in the knowledge and values he imparted to us.”
ANCSU in a statement remembered Professor Savi as a true educationist and influential leader who dedicated his life to serving humanity with an amazing sense of humility and dignity.
“The ANCSU acknowledge and honor his valuable contributions rendered towards well being of education in our state and beyond. His untiring effort and sacrifices towards the upliftment of the students community and society will be sorely missed and fondly remembered for all times to come,” it stated.
