NWA team departs for month-long coaching camp in Uttar Pradesh

A 17-member contingent of the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) has departed for Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, to attend a month-long coaching camp organized by the NWA in collaboration with the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI). The camp will focus on Freestyle and Greco-Roman styles of wrestling.

Recognizing the growing potential of these disciplines, the NWA aims to develop Naga wrestlers to compete effectively in upcoming national championships. A brief send-off programme was held in Kohima, where Dr. Chikhungo Puro, Pastor of Chakhesang Baptist Church, encouraged and blessed the team. He reminded the wrestlers “to maintain discipline and put God above all in order to be a successful athlete.”

The team includes prominent wrestlers such as Venuzo Dawhuo and Huluyi D. Vadeo among others. The contingent is led by Kuzhovesa Soho, Joint Secretary of NWA, and Keneilel Kevin Rote, Treasurer of NWA.
