In a significant achievement, wrestlers from the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) won five gold and one silver medal at the All India Traditional Wrestling Pankration Federation (AITWPF) National Federation Cup 2025, which concluded today.

According to a press release issued by NWA Joint Secretary Kuzhovesa Soho, the NWA team, led by President Vivolie Kezo and comprising three wrestlers, participated in the four-day Federation Cup for Senior Men’s Belt and Mas Wrestling held in Jaipur, Rajasthan, from May 1 to 4, 2025.

Kezhaselu-o Pienyü won gold in both Belt and Mas Wrestling in the 100+ kg category. Venu Vadeo also secured gold in both Belt and Mas Wrestling under the -90 kg category. Nlumrai Hegwang bagged a gold medal in Belt Wrestling and a bronze medal in Mas Wrestling under the -80 kg category.

It is also noteworthy that all three wrestlers officiated matches during the event and were awarded Qualified National Referee Licenses. They are now eligible to officiate in upcoming national championship matches.

Naga Wrestling, as demonstrated during the 2024 Hornbill International Nagaland Wrestling Championship and the 15th Open Naga Wrestling Championship 2025 (for both men and women), was also showcased on the final day of the Federation Cup. Alongside live demonstrations by NWA wrestlers, video highlights were displayed on a giant screen, drawing significant attention from participating wrestlers and officials from across the country.

The AITWPF expressed satisfaction with the demonstration and emphasized the importance of promoting Naga Wrestling at both national and international platforms, with support from other state associations.

The team is expected to return to Nagaland tomorrow. NWA President Vivolie Kezo expressed gratitude to all wrestling enthusiasts from Nagaland and beyond for their support and urged continued prayers and moral encouragement for future endeavors. The NWA credited its victories to God Almighty, the Government of Nagaland, and the people of Nagaland.
