A team of 17 wrestlers representing the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) safely arrived today at the National Wrestling Academy, Nandini Nagar, Gonda, Uttar Pradesh, to participate in a one-month training camp focused on Freestyle, Greco-Roman, and Women’s wrestling. The training is fully sponsored by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI).
According to an update from the NWA Media Cell, the month-long training, involving 12 men and 5 women, aims to provide the necessary technical skills to elevate the Olympic medal prospects and to nurture young talent at an early stage. The program also seeks to professionalize the disciplines chosen by the participants.
As per WFI’s well-trained coaches, training sessions will be conducted twice daily (morning and evening shifts) on all working days except Sundays.
The team is also scheduled to meet WFI Chief Advisor and former President, currently Member of Parliament, Brij Bhushan Charan Singh, at his residence tomorrow morning.
The team is led by NWA Joint Secretary Kuzhovesa Soho and Treasurer Keneilel Kevin Rote. The NWA stated that strict adherence to the training schedule will be maintained throughout the camp and expressed appreciation for the support and encouragement extended by the WFI.
