Two officials and 17 wrestlers from the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA), who are currently undergoing a month-long coaching and training program at the National Wrestling Academy, Nandini Nagar, Nawabganj, Uttar Pradesh, paid a visit today to former MP and former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President and chief architect, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, at his residence in Nawabganj. The team also joined in celebrating the birthday of his granddaughter.

Encouraging the trainees to remain dedicated, Singh expressed hope that the month-long training would provide immense benefits to the wrestlers from Nagaland and beyond.
His son, MLA from Uttar Pradesh, Prateek Bhushan Singh, while interacting with the NWA wrestlers, urged them to take up challenges as opportunities for encouragement and improvement throughout the training period. Assuring the team of every possible assistance, he said he would spend time with them over meals and interactions, adding that he would also occasionally provide Naga cuisine.
Brij Bhushan’s elder son, Karan Bhushan Singh, the present MP from Uttar Pradesh, also extended his best wishes to Team Nagaland for a fruitful stay at Nandini Nagar.
In a press statement, the NWA, through its Joint Secretary Kuzhovesa Soho, extended its profound gratitude to the WFI family—especially Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, his sons, and family—for providing the opportunity to train at the National Wrestling Academy.
The NWA also acknowledged the tireless efforts of WFI President Sanjay Kumar Singh for approving its proposal to train at the academy. Appreciating WFI Assistant Secretary Vinod Thomar and Office Assistant Maharwan, the NWA noted that their dedicated paperwork and coordination helped turn the association’s long-standing aspiration into reality.
After more than a decade without close association, the NWA stated that with the intervention of the WFI’s mature leadership, a strong and positive connection has been restored. The association expressed optimism for continued cooperation in the future.
Meanwhile, the NWA appreciated the support of Mahender Singh, a close associate of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been coordinating all logistical arrangements since the team’s departure from Nagaland on November 9, 2025, and will continue to assist them throughout the training period.
Appealing to the Nagaland state government to promote youth development in sports by exploring all possible avenues, the NWA expressed hope that together a stronger sporting ecosystem can be built for the state’s young athletes.
