Chümoukedima, 20 October (MTNews): Nyenshen FC, Tuensang, displayed a stellar performance to secure their victory in the 3rd Nagaland Futsal Championship 2023 played at JJ Arena on Friday. In an exciting final match, Nyenshen FC triumphed over Lengreng FC with a convincing score of 5-2, claiming the championship title for the 3rd edition.

Lengreng FC, representing Peren District, fought their way to the finals by defeating Black Pearls, Kohima, in a thrilling semifinal clash that ended 4-3 in favor of Lengreng FC after tiebreakers, following a 2-2 draw in regular play.

On the other side of the bracket, Nyenshen FC made a remarkable comeback in the second semifinal, overcoming a four-goal deficit in the first half to snatch a 5-4 victory over Vanguard FC, Tseminyu.

Notably, Nyenshen FC Tuensang consists of a significant representation of players from Peren District in their squad. Despite representing the away team Tuensang, Nyenshen FC players outshone Lengreng FC, the home team, to seize the championship title.

The winner Nyenshen FC will now represent Nagaland at the National Futsal Championship.

The champions Nyenshen FC walked away with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh and runners-up Lengreng FC were awarded Rs 50k.
