According to a statement, the discussions centred on the waterway’s potential to strengthen regional connectivity, facilitate cross-border trade and promote economic growth by connecting Nagaland with neighbouring South Asian countries under India’s Act East Policy.

The development of Doyang Reservoir, Noune Resort and Shilloi Lake also figured in the discussions, with a focus on using the state’s water resources to promote tourism, improve connectivity and create new economic opportunities.
