Longkhum, 27 September (MTNews): Coinciding with the UN World Tourism Day, the official website of Longkhum Village Tourism was launched virtually by Imtisenla Pongener, Senior Tourism Officer, Mokokchung today. The website was sponsored by Late Dr I Longrizung Trust and supported by Longkhum Village Council, Longkhum Tourism Committee, and Tabernacle Technologies Pvt Ltd.
Longkhum Village Council chairman C Angang thanked the Late Dr I Longrizung Trust for sponsoring the website and expressed hope that launch would mark the rejuvenation of Longkhum tourism.
Speaking on behalf of the Trust, L Alemtemsu Ao said that the website is just the beginning and that there remains much to do for tourism development in the village. While suggesting the formulation of a Longkhum tourism policy, he disclosed that workshops and awareness and sensitization training are in the pipeline.
To foster tourism development, the Trust also assured to sponsor a receptionist for Longkhum tourism with honorarium for a period of 5 years. The Trust also donated a computer set along with printer and wifi modem to Longkhum tourism committee.
Longkhum, located about 17 kms off Mokokchung town, is a major rural tourism destination in Nagaland renowned for natural rock formations, horticulture, and cherry blossom, among others.
