The Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) has strongly condemned what it described as an “inhuman and barbaric act” committed against a student in Mokokchung Town on September 30, 2025, allegedly by Sumon Subba (27), son of Jay Bahadur Subba.
In a statement issued by its president and general secretary, the OKM said the incident has shaken the community and described it as “a deep disrespect to society as a whole.”
The student body has urged the competent authorities to deal with the case with urgency and seriousness, ensuring that justice is delivered to the victim and that the perpetrator faces appropriate legal consequences.
Declaring that it will not remain a “silent spectator to injustice,” OKM warned that it would take all necessary actions if the authorities fail to act decisively.
Expressing solidarity with the victim and her family, OKM reaffirmed that such acts of brutality within Ongpangkong jurisdiction will not be tolerated under any circumstances. It further pledged to pursue the matter with “the utmost seriousness” and “leave no stone unturned in seeking accountability now and in the days to come.”
The OKM also issued a public appeal calling on all individuals to refrain from such merciless acts in the future.
