Mokokchung, 6 July (MTNews): The Ongpangkong Kaketshit Mungdang (OKM) has taken a firm stance against the prevalent use of “proxy teachers” in government schools within the Ongpangkong areas and has asked the defaulters to immediately continue their assigned duty.

The OKM through a press release stated that several instances of “proxy teachers” being unlawfully retained in place of government-approved positions for which qualified teachers have been assigned have been made known to them.

Arguing that there are adequate numbers of professionally trained teachers waiting for recruitment, the organization demanded the immediate removal of those teachers who continue to draw a salary without fulfilling their assigned duties and instead employing proxy teachers. The OKM stressed the importance of creating opportunities for dedicated and qualified teachers who are readily available to serve the students.

Underlining its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of students and its sworn obligation to sternly deal with any unlawful conduct that deprives students of Ongpangkong areas, the OKM has asked defaulters to “put on hold” the practice of keeping “proxy teachers” immediately.

“In order to ensure that the practice of illegally kept “proxy teachers” is put on hold immediately, the OKM issues this press release as an information to all the defaulters within the Ongpangkong areas to immediately continue their assigned duty,” OKM said.
The OKM cautioned that it will be compelled to take necessary actions if these malpractices are continued in the coming days.
