Annual Rs 50,000 aid to two Ongpangkong villages to support deserving students

The Ongpangkong Students’ Conference (OKM) is set to launch its ambitious “Ongpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang Mission Vision-2045” under the theme “Shisashir Motsüngnem” on 25 October at Ongpangkong Salang. The event will be inaugurated by Marsanen Imsong, President of the Ao Senden.

“Shisashir Motsüngnem,” or “The Scholar’s Labor,” symbolizes the dedication, perseverance, and disciplined effort of students in pursuit of knowledge, likened to the toil of a farmer harvesting and processing paddy. This philosophy underscores the idea that sustained intellectual effort transforms learning into wisdom, empowering students to contribute meaningfully to the realization of Mission Vision 2045.

According to the convenor of OKM Mission Vision 2045, Aso Imsong, the initiative will run from 2025 to 2045, aiming to provide financial assistance to students pursuing degree courses and beyond.

“It is a wonderful gesture when the community felicitates an individual following success, but we feel it is even more important to support students, especially financially, while they are pursuing their education. With this understanding, we came up with this initiative, as resolved during the 39th OKM held in Kupza Village,” Imsong said.

Under the mission, the OKM plans to provide Rs 50,000 each to two villages annually, with the villages determining the students most deserving of the aid. This year, the funds will first support students from Mangmetong and Ungma, while beneficiaries for the next year will be announced during the launch event.

Imsong drew parallels with past community initiatives, citing the example of NI Jamir, who received support from the community and went on to become a stalwart leader. “This initiative has been created with the understanding that financial support during education is crucial,” he added.
