One of the most popular motorsports events, the FMSCI Indian National Autocross Championship (INAC) East Zone leg is set to take place today and tomorrow (November 4 & 5) at Rempukong, near Ungma village, Mokokchung.

A total of 30 participants from across the North Eastern States including Nagaland will compete for a chance to receive direct entry into the INAC Grand Championship Finals.

East Zone leg (Round 7) of INAC 2022 is hosted by Adventure and Motorsports Association Mokokchung (AMAM), which is an affiliated member club of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), the national governing body for motorsports in India. The INAC 2022 is promoted by Bangalore Motor Sports (BMS).

An Autocross isn’t just your regular race, where the goal is to reach the chequered flag first. Instead, participants have to navigate their way through a predetermined obstacle course and complete it in the fastest possible time. It’s essentially a race against the clock, with the format being a true test of a driver’s skill and car control.

INAC 2022, which consists of an eight-round Nationals spread across all the zones in the country opened in Bengaluru on June 11 and 12 and will conclude with a two-round extravaganza in the grand finals of which the date and venue are yet to be announced.

The 2018 Autocross was the last Nationals and the finals were held in Vijayawada (AP) in January 2019.

According to Dr T Temjen, Event Convenor of the INAC 2022 East Zone leg, the Championship will run on a twin dirt track of approximately 2 kms where the participants will be allowed two runs and the points will be tabulated accordingly.

Temjen explained that the championship category will be INAC-3 in which the vehicles are partially modified.

Additionally, AMAM will also host a local open autocross event – the 6th AMAM AutoX – on day two (November 5). With 40 participants, this will also be held at the same venue, Rempukong, the event convenor added.
The Championship will run in conformity with the FMSCI Autocross 2022 regulations and the INAC Round 7 East Zone qualifiers will receive direct entry into the INAC Grand Championship Finals, AMAM had earlier said.

Founded in 1971, the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) is recognized by the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports as the only National Sports Federation (NSF) for the promotion and governance of motorsports in India. The FMSCI was set up with the main objective to standardize rules and regulations for motor sporting events across India.
