The Green Club Zunheboto organized a one-day awareness program on blood donation at the Zunheboto Town Sumi Baptist Church under the theme “Save Life, Give Blood.” The event was held on October 2 and featured Dr Akaho Sema, Senior Specialist at the District Hospital, as the speaker.

The program was chaired by Tavinto K Sumi, President of the Green Club, who noted that the club has been actively donating blood for the past 12 to 13 years to support patients in need. Rev Inakhu Sumi, Pastor of ZTSBC, graced the event by invoking God’s presence, while Ahuka Aye delivered a special presentation.

In his speech, Dr Akaho Sema emphasized the critical need for blood donations, stating, “By donating blood, many lives have been saved. Blood is essential for patients suffering from kidney failure, cancer, those involved in car accidents, and during natural disasters or childbirth.” He described the process of donating blood as not only life-saving but also beneficial to the donor’s health, as it helps improve the immune system and replenish blood cells.

Dr Sema encouraged individuals aged 18 to 65 who weigh more than 50 kg to consider donating blood, noting that they can do so up to four times a year. He highlighted several health benefits of donating blood, including a reduced risk of high blood pressure and skin infections, as well as the opportunity for free medical check-ups.

The benediction was pronounced by Kughavi V Chishi, Pastor of NCRC Zunheboto.

The event successfully raised awareness about the importance of blood donation and its life-saving potential, encouraging community members to participate actively in this noble cause.
