The topics for the sessions were: ‘Who is a Leader? Understanding Leadership’, ‘Servant Leadership’, ‘Leadership during Crisis’, and ‘Biblical Models of Leadership’.
The participants had enriching sessions of discussion in different groups and presented their viewpoints and instances to the larger group. All group activities were initiated to create atmosphere of team work, cooperation, and respect for each other’s opinion.
Apart for the inputs from the respective topics under discussion, each group activity was designed to achieve different leadership objectives. For example, each group activity was time-bound, fulfilling the objective of time management and efficiency. The groups were expected to present their findings to the larger group using different methods, enhancing creativity in leadership by making use of different available resources.
Highlighting different characteristics of Servant Leaders, and focusing on ‘Servants First’ or ‘Leaders First’, the resource person took the participants’ attention from the conventional understanding of leadership into the core of what Servant Leadership actually entails. Addressing Leadership during Crisis situations, Mr Ozukum discussed differentiating ‘difficult situations’ and ‘danger situations’ and how leaders should address different kinds of crisis situations. The last session on Biblical Models of Leadership highlighted different characters from the Bible and the different leadership lessons we can draw from the characters.
“What stood out the most for me is the clarity that ‘preserverance’ is a fine line which sets apart a Good leader form a Great leader. The forebearance of Noah under great provocation or Joshua’s persistence towards his people are very clear examples of why they are one of the greatest leaders we know of in history, becuase no great achievement is possible without perseverance or persistent work,” Bendangsanen, a participant said.
Earlier in the day, Mr Alemsashi, coordinator of the Youth Ministry welcomed everyone onboard with thanksgiving. The program commenced with devotion and worship.
