The National Oral Health Programme (NOHP) organized a one-day training on the Importance of Oral Health for urban ASHAs of Mokokchung on 28 November 2024 at the Conference Hall of the Chief Medical Officer’s Office, Mokokchung. Dr Keneitheja, Dental Surgeon at IMDH, and Nukshiwati, Consultant for NTCP, served as resource persons.

Dr Keneitheja spoke about the roles and responsibilities of ASHAs at the community level, emphasizing the importance of raising awareness about common dental diseases, oral hygiene, diet, tobacco cessation, and the promotion of regular dental visits. He also urged coordination with Anganwadi workers and school teachers to encourage daily tooth brushing among schoolchildren.

Nukshiwati, Consultant for NTCP, called upon the ASHAs to raise awareness in the community, particularly among the youth, about the harmful effects of tobacco use and the provisions of COTPA 2003.
