Mokokchung, 6 June (MTNews): In an effort to ensure the smooth progress of the ongoing two-lane extension project of National Highway 2 (erstwhile NH 62) within their jurisdiction, the Ongpangkong Mungdang (OM) has appealed to the responsible department to strictly adhere to the approved Detailed Project Report (DPR).

A memorandum addressed to the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD) for National Highways, Mokokchung Division was submitted by OM President Lipokmeren and General Secretary Dr Rongsenchiba. The organization expressed its appreciation for the department’s initiative in accommodating increased traffic and improving connectivity in the region. However, the OM highlighted concerns regarding instances where the approved DPR had not been strictly followed.

“Our primary concern revolves around the quality of work and the exact adherence to the specified two-lane road width as stated in the approved DPR,” the OM stated.

The organization emphasized that every inch of the intended road width should not be compromised during the project’s execution. They emphasized that the road width is crucial for ensuring safe and efficient movement of vehicles, minimizing congestion, and enhancing the overall road user experience.

As a responsible non-governmental organization (NGO), the Ongpangkong Mungdang pledged to closely monitor and review the ongoing work on a timely basis to safeguard the welfare and interests of the people residing in the region. They urged upon the government to prioritize and enforce strict adherence to the approved DPR, particularly with regard to road width specifications.
