The GPRN/NSCN Unification has responded to Kitovi Zhimomi’s claim that 190 Naga Army personnel support him, stating through its MIP in a release titled, “Stop Bullying the Public; GPRN/NSCN Unification,” that this is “false propaganda” propagated by Kitovi, who is making inflated claims about his support from senior ranks of the Naga Army.
“The two Maj. General, brigadier and colonel Joining him do not arise under any circumstances, as they are retirees from active Naga Army service since 2019 and 2021 respectively. Only those whose identification cards have been cancelled are with him. All other senior ranks in political and military service are with the GPRN/NSCN (U),” the statement asserted.
The GPRN/NSCN Unification accused Kitovi of fabricating an alleged statement of allegiance purportedly issued by 190 Naga Army personnel, designed to mislead the Naga public and send a false message to the Government of India. They further criticized Kitovi for blaming Gen Samson Aye and Maj. Gen. Hotoi Aye, deeming this conduct unethical. The statement referenced an emergency National Assembly meeting convened on April 21, 2024, during which the house unanimously impeached and expelled Kitovi from the GPRN/NSCN (U).
The statement claimed that those statements were made “just to save face in the wake of [his] failed attempt” to gain recognition for his new faction. Kitovi has been unable to secure a ceasefire or revalidate the identification cards that were previously cancelled, according to the statement.
According to the GPRN/NSCN, the statement that is “projected to have been issued by ranks and file in the name of GPRN/NSCN (U) is a goof up of the entire situation.” This misrepresentation is seen as an effort to “throw dust in the eyes of the cadres who innocently rallied behind him,” keeping them engaged with “high promises.” The GPRN/NSCN further remarked, “If at all N. Kitovi was a ‘tall leader,’ he would not have been impeached or dismissed from GPRN/NSCN (U).”
The statement criticized Kitovi for his apparent misuse of power, highlighting that “his misuse of office and power is evident from the display of palatial buildings and sophisticated weapons.” It has become clear that his fortifications in civilian areas were intended to establish a “parallel camp and power center” independent of GPRN/NSCN (U), the statement accused.
Furthermore, the GPRN/NSCN asserted that there is a broad awareness of Kitovi’s actions under the guise of being the convener of the WC, NNPGs, which provided him with both leverage and cover to further his agenda. The statement emphasized, “Now everything has come to the surface and is left open to the rest of the world.”
The claims by Kitovi regarding the support of “top-ranking Naga Army officers along with 190 personnel” on October 25, 2024, lack credibility, as the GPRN/NSCN noted that these assertions were made without naming specific individuals or ranks. The recent induction of “170 cadres on 29th September 2024, barely a month before,” raises further questions about the authenticity of his support, particularly in light of evidence showing “barely 70 odd uniformed men flocking around N Kitovi,” the statement continued.
Given that the Government of India has cancelled the identification cards of these individuals, the statement warned that any attempt by Kitovi to use their rank or status within the GPRN/NSCN (U) would be “in gross violation of existing structure.” The GPRN/NSCN has made it clear that “N Kitovi or anyone on his behalf are prohibited from using the name or seal or any kind of identity in the name of GPRN/NSCN (U).”
The GPRN/NSCN (U) warned Kitovi to “immediately stop meddling with the affairs of the National Government.” Should he fail to heed this warning, the government has indicated that it will expose his “misgovernance and corruption with material evidence,” which could lead to serious repercussions, it added.
