The Dimapur District Basketball Association (DDBA) organized a two-day 3×3 Memorial Basketball Tournament at the JV Foundation Basketball Court in honour of Late Tiameren Amri, Technical Director of DDBA, where Orca and ABC A emerged champions in the men’s and women’s categories respectively.

In the men’s final, Orca defeated TMB A to secure the title, while ABC-A beat Elite in the women’s final. In the third place playoffs, Pogo edged TMB-B in the men’s section, and ABC-B overcame Don Bosco Sports Academy in the women’s category.

A total of eight men’s teams and four women’s teams competed, with 40 matches played over the two days. James Tale of Orca was named men’s MVP, while Nisino Nakhro of ABC-A received the women’s MVP award.
General Secretary Yudang Ao thanked supporters including Trailblazer Society, Dorians Society, Longlangba Odangchetla Trust, and friends of the late Tiameren. Khomen Amri, speaking for the family, said, “We miss Tiameren deeply, but watching these players reminded us of his love for the game. We thank DDBA for honoring him through this memorial tournament.”

Moalong Jamir of Trailblazer Society remarked, “Comrade Tia’s resilience and courage were unmatched. The void his passing has left will be difficult to fill.” Meyiwabang Longchar, Chairman of Dorians Society, added, “Tiameren’s deep love for basketball was evident in the way he coached and managed state teams with excellence. We appeal to DDBA to continue this memorial tournament to keep his legacy alive.”

Late Tiameren Amri was a pillar of basketball in Nagaland . He served as Technical Director of DDBA with vision and dedication. His resilience, courage, and passion for the sport inspired generations of players. He coached and managed state teams with excellence, raising the standard of the game in Nagaland.

Known for his unwavering love for basketball, he nurtured talent and built community through sport. Though his passing has left a void, his legacy continues to shine on the court.

The Memorial Tournament was more than a contest—it was a celebration of passion, resilience, and community. Late Tiameren Amri’s spirit continues to inspire athletes and fans alike, echoing the DDBA motto: “Striving for Excellence.”
