The organizers of the upcoming Moatsü Mini-Hornbill Festival 2025, scheduled to be held from May 1 to 3, have announced that an ‘Original Ao Song Singing Competition’ will be a part of this year’s celebration. The competition is open to all indigenous Ao Nagas and is set to take place on May 2.
Participants may perform their original compositions using either a soundtrack without backing vocals, an acoustic instrument, or a piano. The song must be entirely original, either self-composed or composed by someone else, and must not be copyrighted or derived from any existing sources. Songs from any genre are welcome, but performances must not exceed seven minutes. Interested participants are required to submit their names and lyrics to the organizers by April 26, 2025.
The competition will be judged on four key criteria: vocal quality (40%), compositional elements (25%), stage presence (20%), and entertainment value (15%). Judges will evaluate technical aspects such as pitch accuracy, breath control, originality, melody flow, lyric clarity, stage confidence, and overall audience engagement.
Winners will receive cash prizes of Rs15,000 for first place, Rs10,000 for second, and Rs5,000 for third.
